How to find and clean up duplicates?

Large numbers of duplicates can impact system performance and increase the amount of storage required to maintain the system. Duplicate records can skew reports and analytics, leading to inaccurate insights and decision-making. That is why it is so important to constantly get rid of duplicates and keep the system data in order.

We have created an add-on that simplifies the revision of duplicate records in your Dynamics 365. The UDS Duplicate Checker offers to start duplicate detection by setting search criteria that can be saved and reused in the future.

The add-on has a single interface divided into two parts. The left part covers all the pre-search activities like entities, fields and views, while the right one shows detailed search results and further actions with duplicates. You can download all duplicate records with their view data to an Excel spreadsheet.

The solution provides a flexible list of actions you can perform with the detected groups of duplicates. To override all or selected fields from the source to target record, delete or deactivate record, and include or exclude lookup fields. You can apply the same action to several groups at once. However, to play it safe, such a scenario can only be carried out page by page and only for further deletion of source records. After completing the selected actions, you will see a progress report.
