The fake data has a similar structure to the original data but hides (masks) sensitive information. The main goal is to protect personal data while providing functional operation when the actual data
is not needed.

Data masking is typically applied to non-production environments for development, testing, migration, acceptance, training, analysis, outsourcing, etc. Masking allows users to perform their work fully, and the owner can be confident that their data is secure.
