Our team has been working on the customization of Dynamics 365, which allowed us to connect different communication channels with the client`s CRM.

SMS is available to all mobile phone users, regardless of Internet connections and messenger preferences. So why not organize a fast information delivery with all chances the recipient will receive it. It is much easier to generate text messages and track activities direct from the system stuffed with customer data already.

For this integration, we used Workflow and paid solution for sending SMS. The choice of SMS service will depend on your country, the size of your audience, and of course, the budget that you are willing to spend. For example, we used Twillio and RingCentral for the USA.

This integration is the easiest thing to do because it is included in standard Microsoft functionality. We have a special step in Workflows for that. All necessary field mappings and settings are available in Dynamics 365 interface. You can set the necessary conditions and define the sending process on your own. It is possible to create Marketing Lists and Campaigns, which are included in Dynamics 365 Marketing. Power Automate can also help you to provide necessary sendings. Especially it is good when you want to have the possibility to set a special time for sendings. If you have worked with MailChimp, you will be happy to know that it is integrated with Dynamics 365.

The built-in capabilities of Dynamics 365 do not support scheduled massaging.

 

There are different solutions to add a scheduling function to this CRM from Microsoft. More precisely — different improvements:

 

  1. to create some kind of application on the server that will be launched by the Windows scheduler
  2. to use Power Automate (a part of the Power Platform, not a free thing, although often people already have this subscription)
  3. to dodge and make “crutches” in the CRM itself
