Different Dynamics 365 Products

In practice, we have noticed that not everybody understands the difference between Microsoft products. Usually, people confuse them under Dynamics 365 label.

The rapid Microsoft development aligned with the numerous changes is the reason misunderstandings occur from time to time.

In this article, we will explain the difference between basic business platforms by Microsoft Dynamics 365. It will be especially useful if you are currently on the pre-implementation stage.

Dynamics 365 includes 3 main products:

Each of these products is built on a different platform and runs under different technologies, and has different licensing.

This product is a legacy of Microsoft Dynamics Navision and GP platforms. It is an ERP system used for the management of finances, warehouses, manufacturing, supply chain processes, etc. It is usually used by small and mid-sized companies. And currently, it can be deployed as a Cloud Solution (MS has deprecated on-premises versions).

An enterprise solution that is a legacy of Dynamics365 AX(Axapta). Finance and Operations covers more complicated process, and is usually used by big international companies as a central hub.

The choice and usage of each system directly depend on the processes that need to get covered. Quite often, a combination of these systems takes place. For example, companies can use both Customer Engagement and Business Central or Customer Engagement and Finance and Operations. Microsoft support and Office365 administration make the integration of these systems quite simple.
